Sri Krishna Temple - Ambalapuzha

Sri Krishna Temple located in Ambalapuzha is an ancient temple built in 8th century AD. During the raids of Tipu Sultan in 1789, the idol of Sri Krishna from the Guruvayoor Temple was brought to the Ambalappuzha Temple for safe keeping. The idol here is found with a Whip in the right hand and a Shankhu in the left. It is believed that Kunjan Nambiar was the artist who gave birth to the unique art form of this temple.


Kumarakom

Kumarakom is a popular tourism destination located near the city of Kottayam (16 kilometres (10 mi)), in Kerala, India, famous for its backwater tourism. It is set in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake, the largest lake in the state of Kerala. Kumarakom is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a noted bird sanctuary where many species of migratory birds visit. The Vembanad Lake, the largest backwater in Kerala, is habitat for many marine and freshwater fish species. Kumarakom House Boat is a major tourist attraction.


Nehru Trophy Boat Race

The Nehru Trophy Boat Race held in Punnamada Lake is the most competitive and popular boat race of Kerala. The race is held on second Saturday of August every year. The boat race was introduced in 1952 to celebrate Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's Alappuzha visit.
